Day at Newcastle Races

Last Saturday I was invited to a VIP day at the races thanks to Ladbrokes. This was to celebrate St Patricks day. I was really looking forward to this event as I have been to the races once before but nothing like this.

I knew I was going months in advance which means I had plenty of time to plan my outfit etc. Getting 'dressed up' is all part of race day in my opinion. It's the perfect chance to get glammed up and have a nice day out with the girls etc.

OOTD
It was really hard trying to find the 'perfect' dress to wear to the races. I wanted something practical in all weather conditions (the joy's of the unpredictable British weather) but also feminine. I originally wanted a midi dress but after trying so many on they just never suited me. I am 5ft 3 and they made me look even shorter and frumpy. This dress is slightly just above the knee which is a lot more flattering on me. I styled the dress with a cropped black jacket (again to accommodate the cold British weather). Shoe wise I went with a open toe 4inch heels as I find these to be the most comfy and easy to walk in. For a bag I needed something practical to fit everything that I needed for the day in. This Vivienne Westwood bag is the ideal bag and I managed to fit a lot in (so well worth the price tag)

The Venue and race course
The venue is very grand when you first walk up and the outside area is just as nice.

Total

For a 3 course lunch at the races it would cost you £102 and for access outside on the balcony etc.
When we entered the venue we were treated to buck fizz that was green to match the St Patricks theme.
For starter I decided on the duck as I never tried it before.
Main: Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, smash potato and gravy
Desert: Sticky toffee pudding

My overall opinion
Facilities were really good everything that you needed was in a short distance away from you e.g the bar, places to put your bets on, toilet facilities etc.
Value for money for £102 you do get a 3 course meal (you can pick whatever you like from the menu) and you also get a free drink. This adds to the race day experience
Dress code (men vs women) the men were dressed smartly in suits and the women had nice dresses on. It was a smart/dressy occasion. So ideal if you like to get glammed up for the day.
Food and Drink you get a 3 course meal and a free drink provided in your package. You can go with something that you know you like or try something new.
Atmosphere everyone was in great spirits and happy to be there. The staff were really welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Everything 5 pounds lookbook

Everything 5 pounds is an online retailer that sell clothes, shoes, jackets etc all for £5. There are so many choices on the website to pick from. I was given the opportunity to pick 9 items from the website to feature on my blog. With that I've decided to create a lookbook of all of the clothes. I am really happy with them all and ideal to dress either up or down. I decided to pick 7 dresses as they are mainly what I wear and are really versatile. Shoe wise I went with a classic black pair of heels and a black wedge.
For Reference I am 5ft 4 so the length of the dresses will differ on you depending on your height. All the dresses that I ordered are a size 8. All of the dresses are true to size and accurate. Same with the shoes they are true to size.
All the clothes in this post should still be available to buy online. The clothes on Everything 5 pounds tend to go out of stock quickly.

Max Factor: Smooth Miracle Primer and Miracle foundation review

I was kindly sent these products to review
Max Factor is such an iconic brand that has been around for years. I can remember Nana using it and even my Mam. When I got the chance to try out some Max Factor makeup I was really happy (infact I screamed inside) When I opened the package I was really happy with what was inside. The Smooth Miracle Primer and Miracle Touch Foundation. Both products claim to smooth the skin textures. Also, these products are advertised on TV and the models skin looks flawless. Anything that claims to make your skin look flawless and smooth I will try. As you all know I love a flawless, smooth and full coverage base.
Smooth Miracle Primer I 'secretly' hoped that this would have been one of the products in the package, as I really wanted to try it out. So when I saw this product I was thrilled. The bottom picture above is the primer using a small pump and on the right (which you can't see) it is blended out. I applied the primer all over my face and I…
